Mark A. Henning
President & CEO
Mark A. Henning leads the strategic growth of ANGUS Chemical Company, a global specialty and fine chemical company. Henning has held the position of President and CEO of ANGUS Chemical Company from 2001 to 2009, and again from 2014 to present.
Previously, Henning worked for the Dow Chemical Company for over 31 years. Most recently, Henning led the divestiture of ANGUS, from wholly owned subsidiary of Dow, to Golden Gate Capital, in a deal that closed February 2, 2015.
He began his career at Dow as an engineer and project manager, followed by roles in manufacturing, supply chain, SAP implementation and global business leadership across a broad portfolio of products and technologies. During his recent leadership of Dow Microbial Control, he helped the business achieve record levels of profitable growth and set new standards for environmental engagement, launching the first definition of sustainability for the microbial control sector.
Additionally, Henning has chaired the Board of Directors for both ChemiHaas and Viance from 2009-2014. He also founded and chaired the Cefic (the European Chemical Industry Council) Sector Group: Microbial Control Executive Council from 2011-2014, and serves as a Dean's Advisory Board member for the University of Wisconsin College of Engineering, and is a member of the University of Wisconsin Electrical & Computer Engineering visiting advisory board.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering, and completed graduate programs at Indiana University Bloomington Kelley School of Business, Oxford University Said Business School and University of California Berkeley Center for Executive Education.
John C. Sills
Chief Financial Officer
John Sills joined ANGUS Chemical Company as Chief Financial Officer on July 17, 2017. In this role he is responsible for leading the Company’s corporate finance, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, investor relations, strategic planning and risk management activities.
Sills has more than 35 years of international finance and operations experience, including 18 years working in senior operating roles at Bain Capital and Golden Gate Capital, both private equity portfolio companies. Prior to joining ANGUS, Sills served as CFO for Phillips-Medisize Corporation from February 2015, and was responsible for all finance, credit, insurance, legal and IT functions, including management of banking and credit rating relationships. Phillips-Medisize was sold to Molex/Koch Industries on October 26, 2016. From August 2007 to October 2014, Sills served as CFO and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Unisource Worldwide, Inc., where he successfully led the company’s merger with xpedx in July 2014 to form Veritiv Corp. (NYSE:VRTV), a leading North American business-to-business distributor and a provider of logistics and supply chain management solutions. Sills previously held the roles of President and CEO of Medical Specialties Distributors, Inc. from 1997 to 2003, and CFO and CAO at Robertson-Ceco Corporation (NYSE:HHR) from 1992 to 1997. Sills is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and worked in Boston at PriceWaterhouseCoopers for 10 years.
Sills holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He is based in the Chicago area at ANGUS Chemical Company’s headquarters in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
Vice President, Research and Development
David Green is the named inventor on more than 25 granted U.S. patents, with another 25 applications in patent prosecution. His research activities have covered a broad array of applications and technologies, including thermosets, radiation curable and latex coatings, small molecule and polymer synthesis, materials for rapid prototyping, polymer modification, pharmaceutical intermediates and fuel additives. His most recent patent was as part of the team researching Amino Alcohol Compounds and their use as zero- or low-VOC additives for paints and coatings—which set the standard for the ANGUS AMP product to be named the only amine approved by the EPA for the VOC exemption.
Green joined ANGUS in 1996, after spending more than 10 years with Allied-Signal Corporation with a focus on new product development. During the period that ANGUS was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dow, Green held the position of Dow Fellow, the highest honor accorded to a Dow scientist.
Green holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Arizona.
Vice President, Manufacturing & Engineering
Ernest Green joined ANGUS in 1986, progressing through a wide variety of roles including electrical and instrumentation maintenance, electrical and instrumentation engineering, site maintenance leader, production leader and site leader.
Prior to joining ANGUS, Green was a field service engineer for General Electric Field Services.
An active and engaged community leader, Green serves on a wide variety of professional organizations and community affairs including the Boards of Directors of the Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance, United Way of Northeast Louisiana and the Louisiana Purchase Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is also on the Process Technology Advisory Board for the Louisiana Delta Community College in Monroe, the Louisiana Community & Technical College System Foundation Board and the Louisiana Tech College of Engineering Foundation Board.
Green holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Louisiana Tech University, and received their 2014 Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2014.
Business Vice President, Europe, Middle East, Africa & India
Liam Doherty leads the Europe, Middle East, Africa and India Customer Application Centers, including the regional sales, technical service and marketing teams.
A 17-year veteran of ANGUS, Doherty joined the company in 1999 and has led a career spanning roles in sales and marketing, product management and regional commercial leadership with a particular focus in the personal care industry. Prior to ANGUS, he served as a process research engineer for Dow.
Doherty holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bradford in England.
Business Vice President, United States and Canada
Michael Lewis leads the North American Customer Application Center, including the North American sales, technical service and marketing teams. He has more than twenty five years of experience in specialty and commodity chemical sales, commercial leadership and business leadership roles in chemical manufacturing and distribution businesses. Prior to joining ANGUS, Lewis served as General Manager at Univar, a chemical distribution company, where he led business teams in sales, customer service, operations, and commercial functions. His previous experience includes commercial and distribution management positions at Dow and ANGUS.
Lewis currently serves on the executive committee of the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois (CICI), as well as its board of directors.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Massachusetts.
